Nothing symbolizes the global phenomenon of singing more perfectly than the karaoke microphone. Whether you are at a karaoke lounge, singing with friends at a restaurant or belting out numbers in your own living room, the chances are that you would be holding a karaoke microphone in your hand.

The microphone is a major influence for all singers, amateur or professional, and it is a piece of equipment that often doesn’t get enough appreciation. After all, how often do we imitate famous artists and pretend to hold a microphone in our hands?

When it comes to a real microphone, the only difference between us and a professional singer is that quality of the sound that comes out of the speaker. Singing through a microphone is certainly not as easy as it appears. That is why karaoke microphones are ideal tools to help amateurs improve their singing.

Karaoke microphones reproduce sound the same way as the ones used by pro singers in a recording studio. The good thing about karaoke is that you are able to spare yourself embarrassment of a tuneless voice by practicing in the safety of your own room.

Still, after a few attempts using a karaoke microphone, you will have improved sufficiently and built enough confidence to take your newly developed singing skills to your friends’ houses, restaurants or karaoke lounges.

When it comes to purchasing karaoke microphones, there are basically two major choices – cordless or with a cord. Depending on the quality of the microphone, both types are suitable for your purposes, although cordless microphones allow you more freedom of movement as you sing and dance with all your might.

The main feature of karaoke microphones is that they can be used for other forms of singings as well. There is, however, another type of microphone developed in Japan that can only be used for karaoke.

This karaoke microphone takes an SD card that has pre-loaded songs in it, removing the need for a hard disk. It is believed to be the only microphone in the world that is able to store songs. You never know, future karaoke machines may only comprise of a microphone and speaker.
